As some of you know, today (February 6th) is my 24th birthday. I think honestly it has been the best yet. A lot of people that I care for has reached out to me today and wished me well. I woke up at 5am and made eggs for breakfast and went back to sleep until 10:30am. I responded to birthday messages on social media. Then I went downstairs and my dad went jogging while I opened presents with my mom. I got myself (well my mom gives me an allotted amount of money and tells me to buy what I want and she’ll wrap the gifts.) I got myself a reverse coloring book, which is a book full of colors and you add the lines with pen or a sharpie. I got a new planner, some pastel highlighters, white out, and a mechanical calculator. I have been super into budgeting but I love the ASMR of mechanical keyboards and I heard about mechanical calculators online and I kind of had to have it so mine is black and red.

My dad gave me money to buy a universal remote for my old tv. I bought my first smart tv in 2016 and it’s 32 inches and I sold it to my dad when I moved in with Diego in 2020. But he paired the tv with his cable provider’s remote and lost the original one. I bought a bigger tv last year, a 55″ tv, and when times were tough after I went on medical leave at my job, I sold the bigger tv to my parents and they kept the old tv but had no use for it. Now that I am back home, my dad gave me my old little tv and I got a roku remote. I bought the cheapest one which was a mistake because it doesn’t have a power button or the volume controls so there is a way to turn off the tv via the app, but the volume is at full blast unless I connect my phone and roku to my headphones and can turn the volume up and down on those. So it’s not ideal but it works until I can find a better solution.

Anyways. My parents, sister, my brother in law, and I went to a restaurant for lunch at noon. Before hand I bought a tiara from the dollar store that said happy birthday. I got a lot of well wishes from staff and even customers there. I got a French dip sandwich and a Caesar salad and I got a free sundae for it being my birthday. My food was so good I spilled au jus all over my white blouse lol.

After lunch, my parents and I parted ways from my sister and her husband. I went upstairs and chilled out for a while. Then we did the cake pictured above and it was very sweet, but good. I asked my dad to make popcorn with his air popper for dinner since I wasn’t super hungry and now Im back in the lair. I got my TV set up and I have YouTube on in the background while I blog.

It makes me reflect that 2021 and my 23rd year of life was a wild ride. I was reckless and even when I shaped up, things didn’t go as planned. I learned a lot. But I feel like I’m entering this new phase of life with more wisdom than ever. I wish I could speak more eloquently and be more formal on what I will do to change this year, but I’m sleepy so that will have to be for another post.
