Mentally and logistically this has been a very good week. I always write about my opinions and reflections on different topics in regard to mental health advocacy, but I rarely give just basic life updates. Believe it or not, I don’t thoroughly live, breathe, and speak mental awareness info all of the time. I’m out living life and trying to remember my own advice half the time in order to apply it to the situation at hand and try to make the best out of anything without having a major mental break down.
Most of you know if you’ve been reading my blog that I lost my job in January and I have been looking for work since. I have had five interviews this week and applied to more jobs than I can count. I interviewed at a banking branch in downtown Seattle, WA that I used to work for except this time I applied for the lead of operations. Yesterday I got a call where they gave me a very tantalizing job offer that I had to refuse because yet ANOTHER company had already interviewed me and hired me on the spot the day previous! I interviewed for a medical records specialist position at a large, local doctor’s office. Having some paralegal and mental health experience, they asked if I would job shadow and so I did. I enjoyed the monotonous work of looking through patient information and doing a lot of copying and pasting; it essentially combined paralegal work in a medical setting. After I job shadowed, I was offered the position which I immediately accepted. The pay is decent with full benefits, free parking, it’s a full time, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm job with an hour lunch. Everything I wanted in a desk job. Best part is I start on Monday, March 9th, which is… well among us. Terrifying yet thrilling.
In previous posts, I have written about a certain someone who I may or may not have very strong feelings for and is actually the reason that I started this whole blog. On March 4th, he asked me to be his girlfriend, which I said yes to. We both have many issues both individually and as a couple to work through, but we are inseparable with a lot of the same interests and values, so why not conquer the world together?
I am coming up on the first month anniversary of creating this blog and I am thrilled to see its evolution and what it will eventually become.
Until next time,
Dani
