Blogtober Day 5: World Series

I love October for a multitude of reasons, especially because I got married last October but in reality… October is for baseball and watching the Seattle Mariners in the Playoffs of the World Series for the first time since 2001; a year I don’t even remember?! is wild and exhilarating.

What brought my husband together on our first date was our love for Christ, Pokemon Go, Karaoke, but most importantly: Seattle Sports – specifically baseball and football.

Kyle had the time of his life today watching both the Seahawks and the Mariners play on an October Sunday. I have the game on as I write this so far Luis Castillo is starting pitcher for the M’s and our pal, Cal is catching aka Big Dumper aka 60 HR in a season Record Breaker.

I started my love for sports when I was five. My dad was my t ball coach and I was really good, or good for a six year old girl. In little league, I was a catcher and I attribute my great as* for that lol. I played for seven years, all throughout elementary school and once I couldn’t catch all of the time because my dad didn’t coach me anymore, I quit. But my family’s love for baseball and my love for baseball never really wavered.

This is the first time in my lifetime that I actually recall the Mariners playing in the playoffs and not just for a wildcard slot. I feel the camaraderie between the fans even through the tv screen. I would have loved to have gone but the nose bleed bleacher seats were $600 a ticket and that’s outrageous. A price hike like that is wild. But at least while I watch, I have popcorn, soda, snacks, and a blankie as well as a warm fire that Kyle built for me.

For game 1 yesterday, Kyle’s grandma came downstairs with her hot pink walker and watched the whole game with us. I made dinner for Kyle and I but I didn’t know she was going to join us so I had to give her some chicken drumsticks and the rest of our rice lol she was so appreciative though so it made it cute and tolerable. It was devastating to lose in the bottom of the 12th inning but it be like that sometimes. F*ck, Vargas though, NGL.

I really hope this team goes to the World Series, they’re either the only US team who hasn’t gone and won a World Series or one of like 2 or 3 teams to not win. I was thinking that while I made my zuppa Toscana soup this evening.

Well, it’s getting interesting I better go. Can’t write and actively watch the M’s bat at the same time.

With love and go M’s

Dani
