Well…it happened.

I said in my last post that I would either write about him doing it or nothing at all. It meaning proposing. I’ve been holding off telling the internet because some important people needed to find out in person first and we’ve told most of those people… those that we are in control of telling. It was rather funny because in my last post, I predicted he would propose on his days off and well, it happened. I’m yet again a FIANCE. Which it feels kind of weird to say this because this is technically my third engagement. The first one was legit, the second not so much. But I’m not as anxious about thinking about a wedding with Kyle as I was with my last two exes. Maybe it’s still early and I would imagine I would become more anxious once we get a date set.

First before going into all the bridal deets, I gotta paint the setting of how he proposed. On the 10th of June, Kyle got into a mild fender bender and the following day was our six month anniversary. He was all out of sorts because he just got this truck and now he has to get it fixed. He was planning on proposing on the 11th, but with the insurance and other details he wasn’t in the right mindset. So on the 24th it was our Saturday night, very sunny and nice out. Around 8:30pm, he says “get in the truck”. So I listened. We didn’t even have the music on, but we drove around looking at the sunset starting to come into effect as the streetlamps start to turn on and the sun fades over Mt Rainier. Almost at dusk, we pull into the parking lot of a lake; we’d never been there together before. He gets out of the truck and gets my door, which was sweet. We start walking the trail that was made of concrete. It was about a ten minute walk and we held hands and didn’t speak a word. I have no idea if he was nervous but I think the silence spoke for itself.

We walk up to this dock and I saw a little lily floating on the water with all the frog pads (you know, like leap frog? LOL those green petal things that I am too lazy to look up right now). Anyways there were also a flock of duckies. Kyle and I were facing each other and he told me to turn around and “take a picture of the duckies” but because it was so dark at this point, I couldn’t quite get a good photo of them but as I’m now squatting to get this picture, my ass is in his face because he’s knelt down on one knee to ya know.. pop the question.

I kind of saw what he was doing and I shoved my phone in my pocket and turned around. He just looked at me and held out the ring we had picked out together and I just look at him and say “What?” and then quietly he goes, “Will you marry me?” and 3/4th of the way through I said yesssss and I kissed him and I hugged him when he stood up. He helped me put the ring on my left hand. We took a selfie because my camera was still on in my pocket and I had to take it with flash. We walked back to the truck and went back to his house. This was on June 24th around 10pm at night.

So there you have it. It’s been over a week and zero wedding planning has happened yet which is good for me because normally I would be all over it. I am excited don’t get me wrong, but all Kyle and I decided was we are currently focused on lowering our debt amounts, respectively and together, and trying to find a place to live before we begin any wedding stuff. That’s the responsible thing to do.

I’ll have to post some photos of the last couple of weeks here on the blog. It’s been a great year thus far. Also I graduate from treatment on July 17th so in like two weeks. As long as I pass all my UA’s, do treatment, etc like I have been doing, I’ll be done with the major part of my probation. After this I’m just having to stay sober from all substances until January 16th, of 2026. (That’s my next and hopefully final court hearing).

So yeah things are turning out alright. I’m hella proud of myself especially that my graduation date is on my 11 months sober date. Almost approaching that one year number (cool but scary).

I think that’s all I got for now. My creative juices aren’t flowing quite yet. It’s 0508am and it’s my Monday at work and working til 0800am. Working the next four days, and they are 11 hour days as well so regardless if my work is considered easy or not, nothing is easy after being up graveyard shift and 11 hours straight.

Much love,

Dani
